Tremblant Super Series a success despite the weather

The FIS Super Series event held between December 20th to 23rd at Station Mont-Tremblant provided high caliber racing, attracting some of the best competitors in the U18, U21, and Senior categories.

 

The four day event was well organized, with the race committee demonstrating great planning skills when dealing unpredictable conditions such as fog and a full-on winter blizzard. with 60 cm of snow forecasted, the committee decided to hold two days of racing into one. Thursday event was to go as schedule with two runs in the morning enabling Friday’s scheduled event to be run in the afternoon. Everything went as planned, event the fog did not deter. Unfortunately, the fog returned on Sunday which, combined with high winds, greatly compromised visibility. The decision to cancel the men’s Giant Slalom event was a difficult one but was the right call.

The Sport Expert Super Series consists of 10 events held in various locations across the province of Quebec. It attracts competitors from across the country and abroad. There is a strong representation from the provinces of Quebec and Ontario. The Laurentian Division (DLS) and the team from Mont-Tremblant have always done well in these events, enabling many to continue on to the national level and compete in World Cup events.
