Montreal Fashion Week – Day 3

OLDWIG presented an installation in the Salle Cocktail of their jeans around the world, which consisted of jeans covering a giant ball.

ATELIER B had quite a different show with a pile of wood building material in the middle of the runway that the models walked around, then some helpers came and built a wood bench out of it and all the models came out and sat and posed on the bench. The collection was a very cottage inspired look with the models wearing browns and light blue tones with overalls, rain boots and backpacks. They all carried tools down the runway from hammers to clamps and they all had flashlights that they used at the end of the show when all the lights went out. All they needed was a campfire to complete the mood.

COKLUCH showed primarily black and white pieces with the models wearing sunglasses and very interesting accessories such as a gold telescope, and a leather holster for a vintage gun.

NISSE started out by placing two strips of lights down the runway, which gave way to their 60s inspired show. It had all the classic neutral colour elements with bold coloured outfits as well…vibrant greens, oranges, blues, yellows, black leather tops, they had it all, there was something for everyone in this collection.

ANNIE 50 was a fun romp of a show that featured a classic Grand Canyon western background with music from Wanda Jackson, it had a retro feel of the 50-60s with pin-up hairstyles, black cat eyeliner, the colours were bold reds, vintage black and whites, denim, one of the shows highlights was a topless model with only a sombrero to cover her chest.

RUSH COUTURE had that Island vacation feeling, water-colour floral prints, minimalist black and white pieces, big colourful floral hats in a show that oozed warmth and colour.

HELMER’s show had an icy blue feel to it, his couture pieces were accessorized with net veils covering some of the models heads, and wearing them as headpieces, red eye shadow encircled the model’s eyes. Silk, lace, transparency were evident, some pieces were made from small square swatches of fabric and this created an inventive patchwork.
