Niagara Falls host the National Cheer Championships
Thousands of cheer athletes from across Canada and the US descended upon the Scotiabank Convention Centre in picturesque Niagara Falls, Ontario on the weekend of May 11-13, 2012, to compete for the coveted Cheer Evolution National Championships.
300+ teams brought their months of training, practice and devotion, as they competed in several divisions, including school, all-star, youth, adult, etc., in front of thousands of cheering fans and scrutinizing judges, who are evaluating routines in 3 key areas: Building Skills (stunts, pyramids, tosses, etc.); Jumps and Tumbling; and, Choreography.
Ottawa Ontario’s “Capital City Storm” Youth Level 1 team rocked the Convention Centre and improved upon last year’s result by finishing an impressive 6th place against some very stiff competition from Markham Ontario’s “Synergy Elite” and the hometown favorites, the Niagara “All-Stars“. Quebec’s l’Académie Saint-Louis Cadet level team demonstrated skill, balance and synchronized timing to bring the crowd to its feet with their 7-person signature move.
