It was a very rewarding week-end for the Ottawa Fat Cats as they swept the Guelph Royals in the two game series by scores of 3-2 and 7-5.

Saturday night’s game was a close pitchers battle between Brandon Huffman for the Cats and Bryan Boudreau for the Royals. Huffman pitched six innings and gave up just four hits for the win. Boudreau also went six for the Royals and took a tough loss. Ladale Hayes sixth inning single drove in the Cats third run to give his team a 3-1 lead. It would prove to be a very important, as the Royals scored one in the top of the seventh. But the Fat Cats were able to hang on for the 3-2. win. There were just two extra base hits in this pitchers battle: Doubles from the Fat Cats Cody Monbourquette and Eitan Maoz.

There was more scoring in Sunday afternoon’s game. In the fourth inning, the Fat Cats scored six runs on six hits and took a 7-0 lead. Cody Monboourquette had a big single in that inning driving in two. The Royals did not give up though, and came back with four runs of their own in the top of the fifth. The rally was started by Shaun Valeriote’s two R.B.I. single. But for the second game in a row the Fat Cats were able to hang on giving up just one more run in the top of the ninth for the 7-5 win.
