Electric Ottawa Bluesfest Opener

By Barrie Martelle

Ottawa Bluesfest opened it’s door tonight to both young and old for a little of everything music. The Festival features six stages and twelve days of everything from  rock ‘n roll to top of world renouned electro DJ’s.

Ottawa Bluesfest offers a very diverse range of music genre’s and a little of something for everyone. Tonight the main stage opened with the Grammy nominated group Tangerine Dream. Tangerine Dream has a very standout style and for that reason you cannot put them into any one musical genre.  Starting with a eclectic mellow vibe witch gradually turned into a upbeat soothing instrumental, Tangerine Dream finished their set with a intertwined instrumental musical extravaganza.

The real show tonight was Tiesto, the Netherlands born DJ now dubbed the highest paid DJ in the world, who took the Main stage at Ottawa Bluesfest as the evening’s headliner. The music began as the bass shook the ground, until magically Tiesto appeared. The show featured one of the most expensive and elaborate video, lights and pyro setup ever seen at Bluesfest. The diverse crowd danced and moved to the beat of the two hour set, leaving the crowd wanting more. As all great shows must come to an end, this one was spectacular; finishing with a bang of bass, lights, Confetti, and more BPM then a Swiss clock.
